European Cheese Fair of Ripoll
The European Cheese Fair, organized by the Ripoll City Council in collaboration with the Ripollès Development Agency and the European Cheese Route Association. The fair will bring together cheese producers and vendors of related products, such as wines and beers. This year, six cheese producers from Ripollès will participate: Roura Soler, Muuu Beee, Palou, Pujol Orra, Mas el Lladre, and Las Vacas de Mel. Regarding European cheeses, there will be representation from eight territories: DO Idiazabal, DO Cabrales, DO Maó-Menorca, DOP Torta del Casar, DOP Beira Baja, DOP Nisa, DO Flor de Guía, and Vilalluenga cheeses. A new opportunity to taste and buy internationally renowned cheeses in our town.
On Saturday, the sale and tasting hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., continuously. Starting at 8:00 p.m., a special tapas dinner will be held, featuring products from the participating territories in the fair, the Cheese Route. On Sunday, the sale and tasting hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., continuously. As a novelty this year, at noon and for two hours, a cheese vermouth prepared by Murcarols will be served. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy special menus at participating restaurants, which will be announced at the same square and clearly labeled. There will also be an opportunity to visit a cheese dairy and discover Ripoll with the tourist train. Thinking of children, various activities will be scheduled throughout the weekend.
One of the most notable attractions of this cheese showcase is that only cheese producers participate. This is the added value of the direct knowledge of the product by the seller, without intermediaries, allowing visitors to learn the history of each cheese firsthand.
