Sierra de Yeguas
ANDALUSIA
Sierra de Yeguas is a charming Andalusian municipality in the province of Málaga, on the border between Málaga and Seville, where the landscapes of the Sevillian countryside and the flat lands of the Antequera region meet, separated by the Sierra de los Caballos.
El municipio
It is noted for its heritage, with monuments such as the Church of the Immaculate Conception and a protected landscape ideal for hiking. Its natural setting, among olive and almond trees, is perfect for enjoying the tranquility of the countryside. The local cuisine includes extra virgin olive oil, artisanal cheeses, and traditional sweets such as ochíos. Furthermore, its festivals, such as the Asparagus Fair, the Pilgrimage of San Isidro, and the San Bartolomé Fair, reflect its current traditions. Easily accessible from Malaga and Seville, Sierra de Yeguas is the perfect destination for those seeking history, nature, and authentic Andalusian culture.
El queso
Sierra de Yeguas is a town in Málaga with a long tradition of artisan cheesemaking, especially Málaga cheese. This product has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and is made exclusively with milk from the Málaga goat, a breed native to the province. It is characterized by its mild yet distinctive flavor, slightly acidic, and a pleasant milky aroma. It can be presented in fresh, cured, or semi-cured versions, with a texture ranging from soft and creamy to firm and slightly grainy. Cylindrical in shape with a natural rind, its white or light ivory color, and its high nutritional value make it a jewel of Andalusian cheesemaking tradition.
